The Ministry of transport of Russia may cancel the transport tax for cars and to introduce instead of it an environmental fee. On Friday, September 8, the newspaper “Izvestia”.
The newspaper’s sources in the Ministry of transport indicate that the rationale for this innovation to be ready before the end of 2017.
“The work is carried out in accordance with the Transport strategy of Russia for the period up to 2030. The document envisages reduction of energy intensity of transport and wider application of fuel efficient vehicles”, — notes the edition. Also, the source in the Ministry of transport pointed out that the discussed tax unlike the current does not provide for regional differentiation.
In addition, the Ministry of transport is a discussion of the regulation of working time of vehicle engines idling. As noted, this will reduce fuel consumption and emissions of cars in the Parking lots and during stop and when the engine warms up in cold season and forced outages.
In 2015, deputies from “Fair Russia” in the Duma introduced a bill to abolish the transport tax, but to no avail. In early 2016, the government opposed the abolition of the tax on the grounds that this will lead to lower revenues in the regional budgets, where the funds collected, totaling more than 146 billion.
