The monument to Dovlatov proposed to establish in Tallinn
Activists have proposed to establish in Tallinn a monument to the writer Sergei Dovlatov, who lived several years in this city. About the initiative on Sunday, September 3, reports “Interfax”.
The writer Andrei Hvostov reminded that in this day Dovlatov would have turned 76 years old. “Last year was a monument to Dovlatov in St. Petersburg. In 2014, in new York, one of the streets was named after him. In Tallinn, on the house where he lived, hanging plaque, and this year for the fifth time took place the days of Dovlatov. However, the monument, the conversations which occasionally still there,” he said.
The author of the initiative stressed that it was Estonia, where Dovlatov lived from 1972 to 1975, he directed it on the path of a professional writer. On the basis of experience in the newspaper “Soviet Estonia” was created by a collection of short stories “Compromise”.
Offer Khvostov was supported by other writers, consisting of the Social democratic party. A formal appeal will be submitted to the city Council at the next meeting.
In September 2016, it was announced the name of the artist main role in the biographical film of Alexey Herman “Dovlatov”. This Serbian actor Milan Maric. Premiere painting is scheduled for the end of autumn 2017.
Dovlatov was born in Ufa in 1941 (his parents were there to evacuate). In 1944, the family returned to Leningrad. In 1978, the writer emigrated to the United States, where he lived until his death in 1990. In the USSR were published mainly in samizdat and later it was forbidden to reprint the texts published in the Soviet Union.
