Putin second consecutive year, refused to participate in the UN General Assembly

Russian President Vladimir Putin will not take part in the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly, which opens September 12 in new York. On Saturday, September 2, reported the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov, his words leads TASS.

In addition, Peskov declined to comment on the initiative of the American leader Donald trump, who, according to Reuters, September 18, plans to meet with world leaders to discuss reform of the UN.

The Russian delegation, as in the previous year, will be headed by the Minister of foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov. It is expected that it will comprise the permanent representative of Russia to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, Deputy foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov, as well as heads of committees on the international Affairs of both chambers of Parliament Konstantin Kosachev and Leonid Slutsky, reports RIA Novosti.

The last time Putin spoke on the anniversary and the 70 th session of the UN General Assembly in 2015. In his speech he touched upon the Ukrainian crisis and the situation with terrorism in the middle East. Before the Russian leader took part in the events in 2000, 2003 and 2005.
