Former Vladivostok mayor Cherepkov died in a Moscow hospital
The former mayor of Vladivostok Viktor Cherepkov died in the Central clinical hospital of Moscow. On Saturday, September 2, with reference to his assistant Tatyana Captain informs “News. Primorye”.
Earlier it was reported that Shards was ill with cancer.
In early August, 75-year-old former mayor was in the hospital. In connection with the refusal of treatment the tumor was placed in a psychiatric ward.
Shards, he was the head of Vladivostok from 1993 to 1998. In 1994, he was charged with receiving a bribe. He refused to leave the room, after which the building was stormed by riot police. A few months later the case was closed with the formulation “behind absence of structure of a crime”, was brought new about rigging bribes. In December of the same year, Cherepkov was removed from office “in connection with long default of duties”. In 1996, the dismissal was unlawful and reinstated the mayor in office.
In 1998, Cherepkov was again suspended from work in connection with the expiration of the term of office.
