The author of the textbook of Orthodox culture has criticized the introduction of the advanced course

Discussed in Ministry of education project of the course “Orthodox culture” for teaching at the school from 1 to 11 classes, requires a radical revision of the whole concept of education. This point of view in interview to “Lente.ru” has led the author of the officially recommended textbook “Fundamentals of Orthodox culture” (OPK) archdeacon Andrei Kuraev.

“592 lesson one the child’s head. It turns out that every week and a half of classes. Thus, the Orthodox culture has become the main subject of school education, there is only physical education. No geometry, no chemistry, no physics, no history is not taught in such a scale,” noted Kuraev.

According to him, the drafting of a new educational course is conducted in secrecy. “If such a task is, tell about it honestly. Then let’s rewrite the Constitution and several laws,” noted Kuraev.

The archdeacon said that parents, teachers and children studying Orthodox culture in the 4th grade, actually say three dozen lessons is not enough. However, society is not ready for “invasion of Orthodoxy” in General education in the scale that involves the draft.

He also noted that the introduction of “Orthodox culture” in the program of all classrooms should lead to the revision of curricula and textbooks in other subjects: Russian language, literature, history.

Earlier on 29 November reported on the absentee voting of members of the Federal teaching Union launched the Russian Academy of education, project of the course “Orthodox culture” from 1 to 11 classes.

In February 2015, Patriarch Kirill has offered the Ministry of education to expand the course “fundamentals of religious cultures and secular ethics” for the duration of schooling.

With 2012 the majority of Russian schools introduced the course of basics of religious culture and secular ethics, which includes modules on basic practiced in the country religions: “fundamentals of Orthodox culture”, “fundamentals of Islamic culture” “bases of Judaic culture” “Bases of Buddhist culture”, “basics of world religious cultures”, “fundamentals of secular ethics”. Students together with their parents must choose one of them.
