Vyacheslav Volodin
The speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin considers that we should not succumb to the euphoria after the victory of Donald trump at the election of the President of the United States. He told this in an interview with NTV, published on Sunday, November 13, at the channel’s website.
According to Volodina, the hope for the improvement of bilateral relations, “but a lot depends on the candidate,” will he fulfil his campaign promises. “Optimism should always be. And the hope should be, but should not be euphoric,” said he.
“In the elections we first heard from the candidate who became President, relations with Russia will change for the better, leave the tension, more respect for that [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is a strong leader. This is very important when the person elected in the election campaign, says the assessed items related to the recognition and politics of another state, and leadership of another state”, — said the speaker of the state Duma.
Volodin also said that trump has said that is talking about Putin. “On key issues such rapprochement between the presidents of Russia and the United States never had” — he stressed.
At the same time the speaker of the lower house of the Parliament noted that “it is important to restore confidence, it is important to restore the respect.” “If this is done, much can be done. If trump begins to realize that what they said [this] of course, change the [current] situation,” — said Volodin.
Chairman of the state Duma also talked about the “dirty methods”, which have been used against a Republican and helped him win.
Donald trump won the last 8 of the November election with 290 electoral votes, while the required minimum is 270. His rival from the Democratic party, Hillary Clinton only got 228 votes. In his speech on the occasion of the election, trump promised to seek common ground, not hostility with partners in the world.
