Ursula Haferbek
Berlin court sentenced 88-year-old woman named Ursula Haferbek to six months in prison for Holocaust denial. About this reports Deutsche Welle.
In January 2016 at a public event, she stated that the Holocaust never happened, and denied the existence of gas chambers on the territory of the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Her lawyer insisted that the prosecution of women is a violation of the right to freedom of opinion. The haferbek claimed that her statements were quotations from the book that she showed in the courtroom. Nevertheless, the court found that a woman uttered words were “her own speech.”
With 2015 Haferbek at least five times was sentenced to imprisonment, but the sentences have not entered into force because it was challenged. In August of this year a woman was sentenced to two years in prison for denial of crimes of the Nazi regime.
Concentration camp Auschwitz (or Auschwitz) was located 60 kilometers from Krakow. Considered the largest and most long existed a Nazi death camp, one of the main symbols of the Holocaust. According to various estimates, in Auschwitz, were killed about 1.4 million people, more than a million of them were Jews. Now the camp is a Museum.
