“Admiral Kuznetsov” in the port of Murmansk
The Russian defense Ministry has decided to adjust the funding of the repair and modernization of aircraft carrier “Admiral Kuznetsov”. This is with reference to an informed source “Interfax”reports.
According to him, the Agency will give up plans to allocate 50 billion rubles. “[Instead] to allocate about half of the previously claimed amount,” — said the Agency interlocutor.
He explained that funding cuts will impact on issues of modernization, but the repair will be completed in full. These plans reported in the Nevsky design Bureau. Work should begin before the end of this year.
On the possible allocation of 50 billion rubles (about 860 million dollars) for the repair and modernization of “Admiral Kuznetsov” to “Interfax” in June, said another source. “A lot or a little — obviously a little”, — he noted, citing the cost of India on the same ship “Vikramaditya” (formerly “Admiral Gorshkov”), which amounted to about $ 2.3 billion.
“Admiral Kuznetsov”, built in 1982 to 1990 at the black sea shipbuilding plant in Nikolaev, is the only aircraft carrier in Russian Navy.
