The Ministry of education refused to deprive Medina of the degree
MOSCOW, 27 Jun — RIA Novosti. Minister of education and science Olga Vasilyeva signed the order on the refusal to deprive of a scientific degree of the doctor of Sciences of the Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky.
“I order you to refuse Kozlakova Vyacheslav Nikolaevich, Konstantin Erusalimsky Y., Babitsky, Ivan Fedorovich in the deprivation of a scientific degree of the doctor of historical Sciences Vladimir Medinsky Rostislavovich awarded by decision of the dissertation Council D 212.341.02 by results of dissertation protection on competition of a scientific degree of the doctor of historical Sciences on specialty 07.00.02 — “Russian history” on the theme “Problems of objectivity in the coverage of Russian history in the second half of XV — XVII centuries”, — said in the order on the Agency’s website.
In the scientific value of the dissertation Medina for the first time publicly questioned the community member Discerned philologist Ivan Babitsky, and then the question arose about the validity of earning a degree. The statement on deprivation of a scientific degree has also signed the doctor of historical Sciences Vyacheslav Kozlyakov and Konstantin erusalimsky.
In early October, the expert Council of the higher attestation Commission, having considered the thesis of the Minister, recommended that to deprive him of the degree of doctor of historical Sciences. In turn, the Presidium of the HAC 20 Oct recommended not to deprive Medina of a degree. Later, the Council on science under the Ministry of education has stated that the decision of the Presidium of HAC “unmotivated” and causes “deep concern” and urged him to cancel. However, according to the procedure, the order of the Ministry will strengthen the final decision in this matter.
Education Minister Olga Vasilyeva stated that the Minister no plagiarism, adding that two of the dissertation Council already gave a positive opinion on it.
