Found in Iraq mass grave of those killed by militants of the military
It is located near the city of El Huveydzha.
CAIRO, October 28. /TASS/. Mass burial of Iraqi soldiers killed by militants of the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia), discovered near the town of al-Huveydzha located in the North-East of Iraq. On Saturday the TV channel reported Al Arabiya, citing a statement by the joint command operations.
According to the army command, in the exposed burial “are the bodies of 50 government soldiers and police, tortured or killed by terrorists during armed attacks near El Huweidi”.
The statement noted that in the near future experts will start to work on identifying all of the discovered remains of the Iraqi military.
Indicates that in early October of this year near the village of Abu Sahra, located in the South-East of El-Huweidi have already been found by two similar graves in which were the remains of dozens of Iraqi military deaths at the hands of is militants. According to the police chief of Kirkuk province, which includes al-Huveydzha, Khaled al-Obeidi, the experts are going to thoroughly examine the remains, as “hundreds of Iraqi soldiers and police who fought against the extremists who are still missing”.
On 21 September, the commander of the Armed forces of Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi announced the beginning of large-scale offensive on the positions of the IG in the area of El-Huweidi captured by the terrorists of ISIS in 2014. Before the operation, settlement and adjacent territory was held, according to various estimates, from 1 to 2 thousand extremists. October 11 has been declared the full liberation of the city from insurgents.
