The introduction of additional legislative measures to strengthen the protection of journalists is not discussed, reported the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov. His words on Thursday, October 26, the correspondent of “Tape.ru”.
“Unfortunately, each of us can be attacked by a crazy person. No, unfortunately, it’s not insured,” — said Peskov.
In his view, it would be wrong to identify the media in a separate group that requires a higher level of protection. “Again, this is an absolute scholasticism, any substantive discussions on this score is not” — said the representative of the Kremlin.
“As Muratov (the editor in chief of “Novaya Gazeta” — approx. “Of the tape.ru”), everyone is free to take those security measures that it deems necessary. Of course, with the caveat that they must strictly comply with the current legislation”, — said Peskov.
Earlier Dmitry Muratov, the air of “Echo of Moscow” said that after the attack on the journalist of the radio station Tatiana Felgengauer he intends to equip the staff of their publication.
On October 23 at the leading “echo of Moscow” attacked 48-year-old Boris grits. He blinded the guards and snuck into the editor, found the journalist and cut her throat. Felgenhauer was urgently hospitalized and operated.
Grits were detained. Concerning it criminal case under articles 30 and 105 of the criminal code of Russian Federation (“Attempt at murder”).
