BELGRADE, 20 Oct. /TASS/. Russia has fulfilled the promise to deliver to Serbia six MiG-29 on the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade from Nazi invaders, said the Russian defense Minister, army General Sergei Shoigu on Friday at a meeting with defense Minister of Serbia Aleksandar by Volnym.
“In August, when you were in Moscow, I promised that for this holiday, the aircraft will be in Belgrade. Aircraft in Belgrade. I’m sure they will serve as a reliable shield and the guarantor of the independence and security of Serbia” – said Shoigu.
Six MiG-29 selected by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. Earlier it was reported that six MiG-29 flew from Russia to Serbia in early October.
Big plans
Also Shoigu said that Russia and Serbia has big plans for military and military-technical cooperation. “In accordance with the decisions of the presidents of Russia and Serbia, we have a large program and military and military-technical cooperation,” he said, suggesting Volino to discuss further plans for cooperation.
Shoigu thanked the Minister of defence of Serbia for the invitation to the parade. “I hope we get a good mark 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Belgrade, to remember that 73 years ago our fathers and grandfathers shoulder to shoulder stood there and liberated the city,” he said.
The defense Minister also noted that “this is especially important today, when many are trying not only to forget but also to rewrite history, when individual States of the open monuments to those who fought against us.”
“Not just fought, and supported fascism. We can’t accept this, we are also on the same side,” – said Shoigu.
