A court in St. Petersburg made the decision on correspondence arrest of the banker Gitelson
St. PETERSBURG, Oct 4 — RIA Novosti. Vasileostrovsky district court of Petersburg on Wednesday ordered the arrest in absentia recently released ex-Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC “Bank VEFK” Alexander Gitelson, reports the United press service of the city courts.
“Vasileostrovsky district court of St.-Petersburg has satisfied the petition of the investigator and ruled the arrest in absentia of Alexander Gitelson suspected of committing crimes under paragraph “b” of part 2 of article 172 of the criminal code of Russian Federation (illegal Bank activity with income extraction in especially large size — ed.)”, — stated in the message.
As previously reported GASK in St. Petersburg, on July 11, Gitelson was summoned to the investigator to charge for embezzling more than 20 billion rubles, as well as performing with his participation in other investigative actions.
However, Gitelson on the appointed day to the investigator was not in connection with what was declared in the Federal wanted list. On Tuesday, the St. Petersburg city court found the relevant investigator’s decision lawful.
According to OPS, 18 Aug 2017 Gitelson was also declared in the international search.
According to investigators, Gitelson from March 2007 to October 2008, occupying the position of Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC “Bank VEFK”, together with the Deputy Chairman of the Board Ivan Bibinov committed theft of cash Bank in the amount of 20 billion rubles under the pretext of providing loans controlled by Gitelson companies. Employees of the Department of insurance in St. Petersburg filed against Gitelson a criminal case of fraud.
