Explained by the presence of liquid water on Mars
Geophysics of Canada and the United States explained the presence of ancient bodies of water on the surface of Mars. A study published in the journal Nature Geoscience.
For the presence of reservoirs of liquid water on the surface of the planet warm and dense envelope of gas. These conditions, as shown by the authors, provided the emissions from the lithosphere into the hydrosphere methane.
Experts estimate that the periods of warming, associated with the receipt of greenhouse gases, lasted about a million years. One of the reasons for the release of methane from the lithosphere to the atmosphere scientists call the variation of the angle of inclination of the axis of proper rotation of Mars relative to the plane of its solar orbit.
To such conclusions scientists have come as a result of computer simulation. Warming alternated with cold, cause the last is the loss of atmosphere methane.
Prior data indicate that Mars has a warm climate was about three billion years ago, during the warm periods of liquid water were on the surface of the planet for at least several thousand years.
