Ukraine has accused Russia of deploying troops in Belarus
After the Russian exercises “West-2017” to Belarus left their troops, said in an interview with Reuters, the chief of the General staff of the armed forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko.
According to him, Russia has lowered the initial number to Belarus troops withdrew from Belarus, a part of them.
“We had information that they only brought a few pieces of claimed 12 500 soldiers, of which 3000 Russian, but they were much more”, — said Muzhenko.
Joint military exercises of Russia and Belarus “West-2017” took place from 14 to 20 September. They were involved in up to 12.7 thousand servicemen, up to 70 aircraft and helicopters, and 680 pieces of equipment. Similar joint exercises held in 2009 and 2013.
Ukrainian and Baltic politicians have repeatedly expressed concern about the maneuvers.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has reminded that was the guarantee of the return of the Russian military contingent participating in exercises, from Belarus in places of permanent deployment in Russia.
