In the Mayan city found the image of the ancient “players”

The archaeologists found at the site of the ancient city of the Maya Tipan Jong-Vits in Belize two large stone slabs, depicting professional players of the ball.

Both plates created between 600 and 800 years BC, while the only discovered in Belize. On both the stone panels there are images of players and characters, writes Live Science.

The first plate had minor injuries that allowed the scientists to easily see the pattern on it.

So, the archaeologists were able to see the big ball next to the player who wears protective zone and holding an object like a fan. In addition, the panel includes the word “catch”.

The second plate is less well preserved and depicts an athlete doing lunges and relying on his left knee and holding his hand as if in an attempt to dislodge the ball. In this part the player name translates as “bird of prey — mouth heavenly fire”. The same inscriptions, scientists have discovered at the site for ball games in the ancient settlement of the Maya Naranjo in Guatemala. According to researchers, this may indicate that we are talking about one man that shows the relationship between two settlements.
