Strong magnetic storm (level 3 on a scale) is happening on the Ground today, 28 September 2017, due to the ingress of the planet in a stream of fast solar wind. The earth entered a stream of fast solar wind on Wednesday around 9:00 Moscow time, when the speed of the ambient plasma increased from 300-350 km/h to around 500 km/sec.
First contact with the transferred flow of the Earth’s magnetic field in a disturbed state, in which it was before the end of the day. About midnight the speed of the solar wind blowing the Earth, increased to 650-700 km/h and is now at the level exceeding the average value by almost half.
