The UN discovered in the Crimea of torture and one case of “extrajudicial executions”

The office of the UN high Commissioner for human rights prepared a report on human rights violations in the Crimea after joining the Peninsula to Russia. On Monday, September 25, according to the report of OHCHR.

“Were documented serious violations (…), such as illegal arrests and detention, abduction, ill-treatment, torture and at least one case of extrajudicial execution,” the document says.

According to the UN office, such executions were subjected to Pro-Ukrainian activists and Crimean Tatar Reshat Ametov in March 2014, after he spent a single picket in front of the Crimean government in Simferopol. The police of the Republic opened a criminal case, however, to arrest the suspects failed, said the report’s authors.

The representatives of the United Nations was considered to be affected by the annexation of Crimea, local civil servants and those who refused or could not accept the Russian citizenship. Their problem is related with the change of legislation from Ukrainian into Russian.
