The number of poor Russians
The number of Russian citizens with income below the subsistence minimum in the first half of 2017 is 21.1 million. This is evidenced by the data of Rosstat.
This figure declined by 0.2 percent in annual terms and is now 14.4 percent of the total population of the country. In the first half of 2015, the poorest among the citizens of Russia was 15.1 percent in the first half of 2014, 13.1%. The data for 2015 was formed without taking into account of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.
Living subsistence in the second quarter of this year was increased from 9909 to 10329 rubles per person per month, indicates Rosstat.
For the working population, the figure is 11163 rubles, for pensioners — 8506 rubles, for children — 10160 rubles a month. Per capita monetary incomes of Russians in the second quarter of 2017, equal to 30,7 thousand roubles monthly.
In March, Deputy Prime Minister for social Affairs Olga Golodets told about the unique poverty of the Russians. The average salary in Russia in 2016 was 36.7 thousand rubles, at the same time at the level of the minimum wage in the domestic economy operates 4.9 million, she said.
