The Kremlin has expressed concern of the Ukrainian law on education

The Kremlin does not consider some of the provisions signed by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko law on education and a good modern, said the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov. His words to the correspondent “Tapes.ru” on Tuesday, September 26.

“We have seen, we know that many of the provisions of this act, cause a very strong reaction from a number of neighboring Ukraine. Of course, [we] also have the concern,” Peskov said.

On the eve of Poroshenko has signed the law on education, which effectively banned the teaching of any language other than Ukrainian. In his opinion, the document provides equal opportunities for all, because it ensures that each graduate a high level of language proficiency necessary for a successful career in the country.

The law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in early September, has criticized the authorities of Hungary and Romania. They believe that the document violates the rights of national minorities in Ukraine. So, on 21 September, the head of the government of Hungary Janos Lazar stated that in the case of signed Poroshenko Kiev will lose Budapest. On the same day as the protest, the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis has canceled a planned October visit to the Ukrainian capital.

In accordance with the new education act, from September 1, 2018, children of national minorities in kindergartens and primary school subjects in their native language, parallel study of the state language. From 5th grade children will begin to learn Ukrainian, and the language of national minorities will be studied as a separate discipline. From 1 September 2020 education will be fully Ukrainian.
