Three residents of the village of Sharo-Argun Shatoi district of Chechnya gathered hazelnuts in the highlands. One of them, 20-year-old young man who got too close to the edge, slipped and fell into the abyss with a depth of about 300 m, according to local emergency management.
Luck was on his side: the man swept down the hill for about 150 metres and had to cling to the tree. If not that, at the bottom he waited for another 150 meters of steep slopes alternating with cliffs and sand road.
“Don’t hook it over a tree, the tragedy could not be avoided”, — the chief of a fire brigade No. 19 on protection of the Shatoi district, Khalid Ahmadov.

Rescuers and firefighters went down the slope to the victim with the help of climbing equipment. They assessed the transportability of a man and gave him first aid. It was decided to lower the victim on a special stretcher down the hill to the highway.
The victim was taken to the hospital. Involving more than 30 emergency Department staff and volunteers.
