Walid Muallem
Victory over terrorism in Syria is close, said the head of the Syrian foreign Minister Walid Muallem at the 72-nd session of the UN General Assembly. His words leads RIA Novosti.
“Liberation of Aleppo, Palmyra, the lifting of the blockade of Deir ez-Zor and getting rid of terrorists in many parts of Syria confirms that victory is now close to achievement,” — said Muallem.
According to him, the authorities intend to intensify efforts for national reconciliation “in those cases when it is possible.” The success of these processes has allowed tens of thousands of Syrian refugees to return to their areas, said the Minister.
Muallem assured that Syria will adhere to the agreements on zones of de-escalation. He stressed that the country will not leave unanswered violations from the other side and will not tolerate violations of sovereignty.
According to the Minister, the zone of de-escalation “are a temporary measure and cannot be used for violating territorial integrity.”
In addition, Moallem said that the coalition led by the USA has not achieved any results in the fight against terrorism in Syria, killing “more innocent Syrians than terrorists.” He also accused Turkey of an aggressive policy against the Syrian people and Israel of supporting terrorists.
