The coalition led by the USA has not achieved any results in the fight against terrorism in Syria. On Saturday, September 23, said the foreign Minister of Syria Walid Muallem, speaking at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in new York, reports RIA Novosti.
“The Western coalition has killed more innocent Syrians than terrorists,” — said Muallem.
He also accused Turkey of an aggressive policy against the Syrian people and Israel of supporting terrorists. In particular, the Minister noted that Israel provided terrorist groups “all forms of support”, and attacked the Syrian army.
The head of the Syrian foreign Ministry stressed that the fight against terrorism in the country is impossible without coordination with the Syrian government, and any presence in Syria of foreign forces without the consent of the government is regarded as a “form of occupation, aggression and violation of international law and the UN Charter”.
However, he added that Syria reaffirms commitment to the Geneva process and to adhere to the agreements about areas of de-escalation, but will not tolerate violations of the sovereignty of the country and reserve the right to retaliate in case of violations from the other side.
On the eve of Moallem accused the United States help a terrorist group “Dzhabhat EN-Nusra” (banned in Russia). According to the Minister, such actions of the Americans are associated with their dissatisfaction with the success of the negotiations in Astana on the Syrian settlement.
September 15, the guarantor countries of the Syrian peace settlement — Russia, Turkey and Iran — agreed at the talks in Astana the area of de-escalation in Idlib province. The parties have pledged to deploy troops to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire in Idlib, Latakia, Hama and Aleppo.
