Ukraine suspended the activities of the companies entering into group “Evrohim”. About it “lente.ru” reported in the holding.
The company said that the external economic activity of some enterprises of the Ministry of economic development and trade of Ukraine blocked by the General Prosecutor’s office.
“In this case, we unfortunately see that the economy and business interfere with politics. In the near future “EuroChem” will appeal to the relevant state authorities of Ukraine with the purpose of obtaining clarification regarding the issue and provide information justifying the company’s position and necessary for the lifting of restrictions,” — said the representative of the holding Vladimir Torin.
He added that the company operates in more than 100 countries in accordance with national legislation of the regions of presence and considers these limitations as absolutely unfounded.
Wednesday, September 20, it became known about the introduction of Ukraine sanctions against Russian companies, supplying mineral fertilizers. Among them were nine companies of EuroChem group. Under the restrictions were other organizations not included into the chemical holding: “Galaxy”, “Rusagrokhim”, “Bonis”, “Agrokhimuniversal”, “agrocentr-Belgorod”, “agrokhimtsentr-Tambov”, “Raganarok” and others. The entire list is 18 companies. The Ukrainian authorities accused them of supplies of ammonium nitrate in the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics (DPR and LPR) to bypass Ukrainian customs.
“It is established that funds received by participants in the DNI and LC as a result of so-called “clearance” displaced fertilizer, are sent to the structural units of these terrorist organizations and are used for funding and activities of illegal armed formations”, — stated in the statement of the Ukrainian Prosecutor’s office.
EuroChem is the major agrochemical company, producing primarily nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers, and iron ore. The company is developing two potash deposits in Russia — “EuroChem-Volgakaliy” design capacity of 4.6 million tons per year and Usolsk potash plant with a capacity of 3.7 million tons per year. The main owner of the company is businessman Andrey Melnichenko and his family members (control 92.2 percent of the shares).
