The Deputy of the State Assembly (Il Tumen) of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) Nikolai Rumyantsev hit three people. One man died on the spot before arrival of doctors, the other two sent to hospital with injuries and bruises. The MP was drunk at the time of the accident, the press service of the regional Department of internal Affairs.
The identity of the driver installed the RIA Novosti news Agency confirmed in a press-service of the Il Tumen.
The accident occurred at about 02:00 GMT on 8 September at the 23rd kilometer of the highway Yakutsk — namtsy. 56-year-old MP on the Nissan Patrol SUV ran over three pedestrians crossing the road in an unspecified place.
The police said that the drunk Deputy tried to explain the lack of street lighting and heavy rain.
On a scene there arrived also representatives of the Republican Investigative Committee. The case is assigned to them.
