More than half of all poor in Russia (60 percent) are families with children. This was during the Eastern economic forum (WEF) said the Minister of labour and social protection Maxim Topilin, reports RIA Novosti.
“This subject must be addressed. And here it is not only payments (…), but also infrastructure development. (…) If mom could use the services of kindergarten, when he wants to go to work, she would be less poor,” said the official.
In March, Deputy Prime Minister for social issues Olga Golodets called a unique situation of poverty prevailing in Russia today. According to her, poverty, which is fixed, is the poverty of the working population. “This is a unique phenomenon at all in the social sphere, the working poor, we have a qualification which is worthy level of wages in 7500 rubles,” she said, referring to the minimum wage (SMIC).
From 1 July the minimum wage in Russia has increased by 300 rubles, thus accounting for 7.8 thousand rubles. According to estimates Golodets, the salary at this level will receive a total of 4.9 million Russians. While the minimum wage in the first quarter of 2017 is 9.9 thousand.
