The Ministry of defence has published a video of the launch of cruise missiles “Caliber” of the Board located in the Mediterranean sea frigate “Admiral Essen”.
Earlier Tuesday, the defense Ministry reported that the strike “Caliber” was dealt to the fortified area of the “Islamic state” (an organization banned in Russia) in Syria, which kept arriving from Russia and CIS fighters.
According to the Russian defense Ministry, strike “Caliber” destroyed “a large cluster of fighters”, as well as command and control and communications hub of militants, weapons depots and ammunition and the plant repair armored vehicles of terrorists.
“Admiral Essen” — the first serial frigate, built in the framework of the project 1135.6, named in honor of Admiral of the Russian Imperial Navy Nicholas von Essen. The ship was transferred to the Navy 7 June 2016.
In addition to the “Caliber” the frigate is armed with missile-defense complex “Shtil-1” gun mount A-190 100 mm caliber, anti-aircraft artillery, jet bomb installation, torpedoes, and can carry a helicopter deck.
