Less than a third of Russians supported continuing military operations of Russia in Syria
Moscow. September 5. INTERFAX.RU — About half of Russians (49%) believe that Russia should end the military operation in Syria, its continuation are less than a third (30%) of respondents reported “Interfax” in the “Levada-Center”.
Another 22% found it difficult to formulate its position on this subject, showed the survey conducted 18-22 August among 1,600 people in 137 localities of the 48 regions of the Russian Federation.
In General, the situation in Syria is interested in the majority of Russians: 18% monitored closely, 56% know about latest events, but do not follow them closely. Don’t know anything about what is happening in Syria, 26% of respondents.
The fact that military intervention in the Syrian conflict can escalate to Russia in the “new Afghanistan,” fear 32% of respondents.
It is considered unlikely 40%, and every tenth exclude such variant of development of events (11%) or difficult to answer (10%).
The Russian military operation in Syria is from September 30, 2015. Russian military aviation support ground operations by Syrian army against terrorist groups, including the “Islamic state” (banned in Russia).
