Medvedev praised the state of Russian roads
Even in big cities the roads are periodically disappear during spring floods and autumn disasters, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
GORKI, November 21. /TASS/. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev stated that the condition of roads in many cities of Russia remains unsatisfactory.

“Naturally, the normal way is not just a set of technical constructions, is the path to a higher quality economy, new jobs, development of infrastructure of cities and other settlements. When accounting for only the direct macroeconomic effect of the contribution of road sector to gross domestic product is about 7%. But the condition of roads we have in many places remains poor,” he said at a meeting of the Presidium of the presidential Council of the Russian Federation for strategic development and priority projects.

This state of road infrastructure in the country, according to the head of the Cabinet, leading to numerous accidents and many other problems. He added that even with the help of priority projects it is difficult to correct the situation. Therefore, the government has chosen as a priority two directions — bringing up to standard road network in most cities with population over 500 thousand people and the reduction of places of high concentration of traffic accidents on country roads.

It is also necessary, according to Medvedev, to start the process for optimization of traffic flows, integrated development of public transport to meet modern standards of quality, safety and economy. The Prime Minister considers it important to provide feedback to motorists so that they can quickly provide information on road traffic accidents and the state of Russian roads.
“The organization of such a process would require very large resources, not just financial. The budget, as you know, we have known limitations, so I encourage anyone who is responsible for the development of this project, and builders, and planners, to minimize costs, but without prejudice to quality. We are talking about the necessity of application of more efficient technologies in the construction and optimization of the design decisions, ‘” said Medvedev.
