The speaker of Council of Federation Valentina Matvienko urged the international community to continue its pressure on North Korea that the country stopped nuclear testing. I made such statement she made during a visit to Japan. On Thursday, November 3, reports RIA Novosti.

“We need to continue the international efforts in this regard, the pressure on the DPRK to comply with the resolution of the United Nations, which was adopted on this occasion that they stopped in their attempts to develop nuclear weapons in the country. This is a very serious hotbed of tension in the region, it may have unpredictable consequences,” — said Matvienko.

According to her, the Russian approach to this issue coincides with the position of Japan, USA and some other countries. “We are categorically against the expansion of the club of States possessing nuclear weapons, against the proliferation of nuclear weapons. We consider unacceptable nuclear test, which produces Korea,” — said Matvienko.

The Russian delegation in the course of the visit visited the Russian cemetery in Nagasaki and the atomic bomb Museum. “This Museum — like alarm as a reminder to all mankind that we stopped the arms race, halted production of weapons of mass destruction,” — said Matvienko during a visit.

In October, the UN Security Council condemned a failed North Korea’s nuclear tests. In the opinion of the security Council, Pyongyang to “seriously violates international obligations.” The Kremlin has also reacted negatively to the test. As stated by the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov, like the DPRK’s actions are contrary to international law.

In September, North Korea officially acknowledged nuclear tests. It was reported that the purpose of the test was to obtain data about the parameters of the combat use of standardized nuclear warhead, which is planned to be installed on strategic ballistic missiles.
