In the state Duma commented on the bill to change the beginning of the school year on October 1
A bill allowing local governments to postpone school from 1 September to 1 October, which had been introduced in the state Duma deputies from the liberal democratic party, may be considered in the autumn session. This “parliamentary newspaper” said one of the authors Vadim Denikin.
The initiative was linked with the possibility of “more flexible approach to the solution of the question of the beginning and end of the school year in educational institutions, based on the climatic, national and other characteristics of a particular municipality, as well as more efficient use of the warm time of the year for recreation of children.”
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on science, education and culture Liliya Gumerova does not support the idea. “Now we are working on creating a unified educational space, and on this background to say that up to the municipalities themselves, when you school year to start — not very logical,” she told the publication.
On the eve of the Federation Council has rejected the idea of moving school lines September 4, due to celebration of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha.
