The majority of Russians (78 percent) prefer an official civil marriage. This is evidenced by the results of a survey of the all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion (VTSIOM), published on its website on Monday, August 28.
Because formal marriage is the most natural form of relationship, in favor of even 51 percent of those who have no stamp in the passport.
The largest share of the greeting involved young people aged 18 to 24 years (21 per cent). With age, a negative attitude towards civil marriage increases. Only 5 percent of respondents aged 60 years approve such an open relationship between a man and a woman.
The optimal age for marriage, according to most respondents, and 27 years for men and 23 years for women. This opinion is shared by 77 and 81 percent, respectively.
On 25 July it was reported that the majority of young Russians think love is the main reason for marriage. This opinion is shared by 82 percent of respondents from the HSE and the Russian state social University. The desire to have children named the main incentive for marriage 6 percent of respondents.
