The government has allowed 19 by the universities to award scientific degrees
MOSCOW, Aug 25 — RIA Novosti. Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree, according to which 19 universities and four research institutions are granted the right from September 1 to independently award academic degrees, the relevant document published on the government website on Friday.
According to the explanatory note to the document, the Federal law of may 23, 2016 were granted the right to independently award academic degrees of candidate and doctor of Sciences, dissertation councils create and establish their powers, Lomonosov Moscow state University, Saint Petersburg state University, several other educational institutions of higher education and scientific organizations that meet certain requirements.
“Signed by order approved the list, which includes four research institutions and 19 universities. Including 11 universities, in respect of which the category “national research University”, the three universities, in respect of which the category of “Federal University”, four universities having the right to independently develop and establish educational standards”, — stated in the message.
