Udaltsov proposed to nominate a single presidential candidate from the left forces

Opposition leader Sergei Udaltsov, who had served a term for organizing mass riots on Bolotnaya square, intends to revive the movement “Left front”. He stated this at a press conference on Thursday, August 10, reports “Interfax”.

“I see the next task: the maximum activation of the left movement, primarily the non-parliamentary, and that was doing the “Left front”,” — said Udaltsov. To do this in the coming days he will meet with leftist organizations, in the autumn a conference will be organized.

In addition, it considers the possible unification of the left forces, including parliamentary, for the nomination of a single candidate in presidents of Russia in the elections of 2018. “I hope for their wisdom to hold primaries and nominate fresh, strong candidate, more young,” he said.

The opposition will make this suggestion to the leader of the CPRF Gennady Zyuganov and the Chairman “Fair Russia” Sergei Mironov. While Udaltsov said that he as a person with a conviction for a serious crime does not have presidential ambitions.

During the press conference, the coordinator “the Left front” also said that during the prison has not changed his political views and remains a “tough critic” of the current government. The key task of the opposition Udaltsov sees the implementation of the “left turn”, which, in his opinion, “there is a request in the world.”

Udaltsov was released on 8 August. Commenting on the event, Leonid Razvozzhayev is one of the supporters of Udaltsov expressed his hope that he “had more life experience” in the future “will lead an active political activities.”

In 2014 the Moscow city court found Udaltsov and Razvozzhayev guilty of organizing riots at the time agreed with the city authorities of the action “March of millions” which took place on may 6, 2012. The court sentenced the opposition leaders to 4.5 years in prison.
