The police opened a criminal case against the hunter who killed the Amur tiger in Primorye, according to the website of the MIA of Russia.
The carcass of the tiger and hunting rifle IZH 12-go calibre, from which, presumably, were killed animal, found in the apartment of 42-year-old resident of the village of Amgu Terneisky district. The suspect was taken to the police Department where he confessed. The man said he shot the beast near the village of Malaya KEMA, and then froze the carcass and hid the house.
According to the experts of the Sikhote-Alin reserve, the carcass belongs to the one-year-old Amur tiger. The remains of the animal was sent to the medical-biological research.
The case was initiated under part 1 of article 258 of the criminal code (“Illegal hunting and trafficking of especially valuable wild animals and aquatic biological resources belonging to the species listed in the Red book”).
In February in Primorski Krai have detained two men who tried to sell the skin of the Amur tiger. In the role of buyers was made by the police.
The Amur tiger is listed in the Red data book of International Union for conservation of nature and the Red book of Russia. According 2015, the Russian far East there 523-540 individuals.
