PITSUNDA (Abkhazia), August 8 — RIA Novosti. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia and Abkhazia will soon change the procedure of customs registration of the phytosanitary control in bilateral trade.
“The President (of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba) really raised the question about change of procedure of customs clearance, checks of work of the phytosanitary service. We have some ideas, I think that in the near future we will implement them”, — Putin said following Russian-Abkhazian talks on Tuesday.
A large part of the Abkhaz export to Russia is food, especially fruits and vegetables, and in connection with restrictions on the importation of products from a number of countries Abkhazia “there are very good opportunities to further increase the volume of deliveries of its products to the Russian market,” Putin said.
According to the Russian President, in January-March the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 6.5%.
Putin also noted that with the support of Russian banks in Abkhazia are a number of projects in tourism, agriculture, food industry, totaling about 1 billion rubles.
“I hope that all this will contribute to increasing tax revenues in the budget of Abkhazia, increase of employment, level and quality of life,” — said the President of Russia.
