LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky proposed to limit the powers of the Russian President to one term, reports RIA “Novosti”.
“We have many times proposed to establish in the Constitution a rigid quota on the post of President only one term. Let it be five, six, seven years, but only one time and all”, — said Zhirinovsky.
Currently a Russian citizen can hold the office of President no more than two six-year terms.
“Two terms, six years is a lot, and even the opportunity to return in the third and fourth time for the post, missed one election,” — said the leader of the party.
Zhirinovsky intends to run for President in 2018. He had previously participated in elections in 1991, 1996, 2000, 2008 and 2012.
