Died the main ballet master of Theatre of classical ballet Vladimir Vasilev

Choreographer Vladimir Vasilev has died in the night of 24 August, on 87-m to year of life, according to the website of Theatre of classical ballet of Natalia Kasatkina and Vladimir Vasilyov, where he was the chief balletmasters.

Vladimir Vasilev entered the ballet school at the Bolshoi theater in 1943-m to year in Moscow. In the late 1940s he became an artist of the Bolshoi theater and entered the actor’s faculty of GITIS, who graduated in 1953-m to year.

In the second half of the 1950s married Natalia Kasatkina, which was to work together.

At the Bolshoi they put the “Heroic poem” to music by Nikolay Karetnikov, “the rite of Spring” (music by Igor Stravinsky), “Prelude and Fugue” (music by Johann Sebastian Bach).

Since 1977 Kasatkina and Vasilev headed the Concert ensemble of the USSR Classical ballet, which in 1992 was renamed the State Academic Theatre of Classical ballet under the direction of N. Kasatkina and V. Vasilev.

Vasilev was awarded the title people’s artist of Russia and State prize of the USSR.

Farewell to Vladimir Vasilyev will be held on Saturday, August 26, at 11:00 in the atrium of the Bolshoi theatre. The funeral will be held on Zelenkovskaya cemetery in the Istra district.
