U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson said the United States wants to work with Russia, and it would be pointless to stop when, due to existing disagreements between the two countries. About it reports Reuters.
Discussing the meeting, held in Manila on Sunday, August 6, with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, Tillerson told reporters that Russia has declared its readiness to discuss the situation and find ways forward on the issue of Ukraine.
According to Tillerson, he pragmatically sees relations between the US and Russia and believes that the problems can be solved.
In addition, in a conversation with Lavrov, he stressed that Russia needs to understand that intervention in the elections is a very serious problem.
Also, according to Tillerson, he informed Russia that the United States by September 1 will respond to the demand of Moscow to reduce the staff of American diplomats, the Associated Press reports.
On 2 August President of the United States Donald trump signed a law on new anti-sanctions, which Congress passed on July 27. The document provides for certain restrictions regarding the possibility of funding for banks and oil companies, which are under restrictions.
Moscow in response to the adoption of the law on sanctions decided to close the us Embassy staff access to the cottage in Serebryany Bor and warehouses in the South of the city. Also the Russian foreign Ministry suggested Washington until September 1 to reduce the total number of personnel of the diplomatic mission in the country to 455 people, that is 755 people.
