Hannover 96-year-old “accountant of Auschwitz” was found healthy for the prison

The Prosecutor’s office Hanover had recognized the “accountant of Auschwitz” and a former SS, 96-year-old Oskar Groening is healthy enough for serving a prison sentence, the request of his lawyers on the postponement of the punishment is rejected, said Wednesday the Agency.

“The defence’s request to postpone the punishment was rejected”, — quotes the answer of the Prosecutor of the online edition of Spiegel. Thus, Groening, examined by a physician of the Department, may serve his sentence in prison “while ensuring appropriate medical supervision and care.” The decision about signing the former SS man in jail yet, “this issue needs to be resolved,” reads the statement of the Prosecutor’s office.

Protection Groening tried to appeal the verdict. Now lawyers are planning to challenge the Prosecutor’s decision on imprisonment.

Groening worked in the administration of the concentration camp accountant and was engaged in the registration and posting of currency that was seized from prisoners upon arrival in camp.

In the process, Groening has twice made the statement that recognizes the moral guilt for killing people in a concentration camp.
