“The Manager asked him to change, but I never wanted.” Player “Shapechange” — about how he survived the plane crash that killed almost all of his teammates

On the night of November 20 in Colombia, crashed a plane in which there were Brazilian soccer team “Epicoene”.

Killed 71 people, only six survived. Among them — the defender “Epicoene” Alan Ruchel. In mid-December he found the strength to give a press conference, during which he told me that survived by pure chance.

First, watch this video. Even if you don’t know any word in Spanish nor in Portuguese.

This is Alan Rusell, the defender of “Epicoene”. In the first hours after the crash it was reported that he had received the least damage among all the survivors: he was diagnosed with numerous injuries to the arms, legs and head and a fracture of the spine — but none of these injuries were not life-threatening.

Rosel was conscious and begged rescuers to find his wedding ring fashioned by the hands during impact.

December 17 Ruchel gave a press-conference on which has told, how it was that he survived. According to counsel, he was sitting in the back of the plane. Already during the flight, he was approached by the Manager of the club Kadu Gaucho and asked to switch — he wanted the journalists, who were also in the cabin, sat one group.

First Ruchel didn’t want to move. He was persuaded goalkeeper Jackson Folmann, next to which there is an open seat.

In the end, both survived — though Folmann doctors amputated part of his leg.

“Explain why I survived the crash, only God can. He gave me a second chance,” said Rosel.

At the press conference, the defender also said he wants to visit the families of fallen teammates.

And yet — again plans to play football. For “Epicoene”.
