Putin and Erdogan offered to continue talks on Syria in Astana

The leaders of Russia and Turkey Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan intend to propose to the conflicting parties in Syria to continue peace talks at a new venue in Astana. About Putin said at a press conference in Tokyo.

“We have agreed with President Erdogan that will offer the conflicting parties, we — the government of Syria, and the President of Turkey, representatives of the armed opposition to continue peace negotiations in a peaceful area. As this area could be the capital of Kazakhstan Astana”, — RIA Novosti quotes Putin.

According to him, if the parties agree, the leaders will request to the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev. Meanwhile, Putin noted that the platform will not compete with the Geneva negotiations but to complement them.

Earlier it became known that Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the situation in Aleppo.
