Ukraine celebrated the independence Day parade with the participation of NATO
The parade was attended by more than 230 representatives of the countries of the Alliance.
KIEV, August 24. /TASS/. Military parade on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of independence of Ukraine took place on Thursday in Central Kiev. The first time it was attended by servicemen of NATO countries.
The Minister of defence of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak met the participants of the parade on a us military Hummer instead of the traditional Soviet car GAZ “Chaika” with an open top.
Just on the main street of the capital — Khreshchatyk marched about 4.5 thousand soldiers, of which more than 230 participants — representatives of the North Atlantic Alliance, more than a thousand — participants of military operations in the Donbass.
At the invitation of Ukraine in Kiev was attended by defense Ministers and delegations of the nine countries — USA, UK, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Montenegro, Estonia, Turkey and Moldova.
This year’s military equipment was not involved in the celebrations, instead, on the Khreshchatyk, the Ministry of defence organized an exhibition of military equipment “Power unconquered”. It represented the 67 exhibits, including the new developments (self-propelled artillery, tanks, various modifications of armored fighting vehicles, trucks and ambulances). According to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, part of the technology immediately after the exhibition will go in the Donbass in the area of military operations.
