Goodwood Yanukovych asks the court to relieve him of duty
Vitaly Machacek said that his decision is justified by “particularly complex case” and also the stage at which the case is.
KIEV, August 17. /TASS/. Goodwood ex-President of Ukraine Vitaly Machacek asks the court to release him from the duties of defense counsel in court on charges of treason.
“I ask the court to accept my refusal, and release me from the duties of lawyers in connection with the inability to perform these duties,” he said Thursday at the meeting of the Obolonskiy district court of Kyiv.
Machacek said that his decision is justified by “particularly complex case” and also the stage at which the case is currently.
According to the lawyer, he is not a member of one of the bar associations and it is not possible to attract mates, unlike the previous lawyers in the case.
The prosecution then asked the court not to grant the request of counsel. According to prosecutors, the rejection of the defender aimed at delaying the case.
In turn, the presiding judge Vladislav Devyatko proposed to consider this question separately. “You put a difficult issue before the court, so the court will decide this question in the deliberation room,” he said, referring to Meshechek.
Now in court the break is declared, judges retired from the courtroom for the decision.
State lawyer Vitaly Mesicek for the first time represented Yanukovych in the court on July 12. He was appointed counsel in connection with the release of the former President of the judicial process.
Yanukovych July 6 refused to participate in the proceedings, stating that the process was “violated all possible principles and rules of law grossly violated the Constitution, completely ignored the procedural rules,” and the result “predetermined”.
