Erdogan said a possible improvement of relations with Germany after the Bundestag elections
Moscow. August 13. INTERFAX.RU — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hopes to improve relations with Germany after the Bundestag elections on September 24, he said in the Turkish TV, according to Deutsche Welle.
“It’s already been done by France and Austria, and now we see that Germany has adopted the same strategy. I think that this situation will improve after the elections”, — said Erdogan.
Relations between Germany and Turkey for a long time extremely tense. In particular, in June in Berlin made the decision on the withdrawal of Bundeswehr soldiers with the Turkish military base of Incirlik. The reason for the departure became bans of Ankara on the visit of the German deputies of the military contingent stationed at the base.
As justification, the Turkish side put forward various reasons, for example, the adoption by the Bundestag resolution that the events of 1915 in the Ottoman Empire was recognized as genocide of the Armenian people.
