Air defense systems in Russia are in high alert because of the situation with North Korea
MOSCOW, Aug 11 — RIA Novosti. The air defense system of the Russian Federation in the far East are in a state of high alert in connection with the situation around the DPRK, additional measures are taken to ensure the safety of the far East region, told RIA Novosti Senator Viktor Ozerov, who previously headed the Federation Council Committee on defense and security.
“What is happening now around the North Korea can not but arouse our sense of concern and understanding of the need for additional measures to protect our territory. Air defenses and fortified HQs in the far East region,” he said.
Ozerov said that the air defense system in the far East are in a constant state of high alert. “We monitor everything that is happening around North Korea, the zone of the possible launches (missiles of North Korea) are under increased attention,” said the Senator.
He noted that among the tasks of Russian air defense systems in the far East include the security of territory of the Russian Federation on the case not only incorrectly laid coordinates of North Korean missiles, because “the probability of error here is quite high.”
“The air defense in the far East there are more serious problems than the missiles of North Korea. Air defenses, nuclear deterrence, keep Americans from more drastic steps (against North Korea),” — said Ozerov.
