Moscow. 2 Aug. INTERFAX.RU — Chairman of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Leonid Slutsky considers that the signing by the President of the United States Donald trump sanctions law against Russia is a new blow to Russian-American relations.
“This is definitely a new blow to Russian-American relations, the possibility of recovery in the foreseeable future,” said Slutsky reporters on Wednesday.
In addition, he did not rule out that the issue of sanctions may bring Russia and Europe. “The issue of illegality of the tightening of sanctions Europe has swung in the direction of common sense, and now this factor is, of course, can unite us”, he said.
Slutsky recalled that it has repeatedly said that new sanctions are directed not only at deterring Russia, but at deterring European countries, serious limitations in the cooperation in the energy sector. “The European Commission has stated that it would consider measures to respond adequately to the law of the United States. What will be the reaction of the EU, still difficult to extrapolate, but I hope that it will follow. According to him, the emergence of this law was the result of “a monstrous Russophobic campaign in the United States, expanded under President Barack Obama.” “The Russian dossier was the main theme for the opponents of trump, who is under heavy domestic political pressure.
