The United States will offer the UN security Council a new resolution toughening sanctions against the DPRK

The UN, on 5 July. /TASS/. United States in the coming days will present for the consideration of the UN Security Council a new resolution calling for tougher sanctions against North Korea in response to country’s missile test.
This was stated on Wednesday by the U.S. permanent representative to the UN, Nikki Haley, speaking at the security Council meeting.
“In the coming days we will present to the Security Council a resolution that would allow the international community to give a proportionate response to the new escalation by the DPRK,” — said the diplomat. She noted that it would not go into detail about the contents of the document, but listed possible ways to respond to North Korea’s behavior.
According to her, the international community “can cut off the main sources of hard currency” of the DPRK, including to impose new restrictions on oil supplies, “to strengthen air and Maritime restrictions”, as well as to impose targeted sanctions on “senior officials”.
According to Haley, the United States is prepared to use military force against the DPRK if necessary, but prefer to use their opportunities in the field of trade to influence Pyongyang.
“The United States is prepared to use the full range of capabilities to protect itself and its allies. One of our capabilities is a significant armed forces. We will use them if required, but we would prefer not to go in this direction”, — said the diplomat.
According to her, the US “there are other ways to give an answer” to those who pose a threat. “We have great opportunities in the field of trade,” said Haley.
On Tuesday, the Central television the DPRK has announced the first successful launch of an Intercontinental ballistic missile “And 14”. The statement noted that the maximum altitude of the rocket amounted to 2802 km, it flew 933 km. However, according to the defense Ministry, North Korea’s missile climbed to an altitude of 535 km and flew about 510 km. As explained in the Department, these figures correspond to characteristics of the medium-range missiles.
