The special representative of the Russian President on issues of environmental activities, environment and transport Sergei Ivanov presented an American actress and zoodefender Pamela Anderson calendar with a picture of a leopard. It is reported RIA Novosti on Friday, December 16.
On the same day, Ivanov together with Anderson participated in the meeting with the head of the International Fund for animal welfare (IFAW) Azzedine Downs, which was held in Moscow.
In April, the St. Petersburg activists asked the actress to help save the seals and ringed seals inhabiting the Gulf of Finland and Ladoga lake.
At the end of last year Sergey Ivanov, then held the position of head of the presidential administration, gave Anderson a certificate of the custodian of one of the Amur leopards. The actress called the predator in his honor — Pamela.
Pamela Anderson is one of the most active fighters for the rights of animals of the Hollywood stars. In 1999, she was awarded the prize named after Linda McCartney, established by the international organization PETA (“people for the ethical treatment of animals”).
The Amur leopard is recognized as the most rare predatory mammal of the family Felidae. According to the last census, in Russia there are about 70 of these animals.
