The virologist gave a forecast on the dynamics of the incidence of COVID-19 in Russia

Virologist Chepurnov: the peak incidence of COVID-19 in Russia has already passed Professor of virology Alexander Chepurnov, in an interview with Sputnik radio, gave a forecast on the dynamics of the incidence of coronavirus in Russia.

He noted that a decrease in the number of detected cases has been recorded in the country for several days, and such dynamics may mean that the peak incidence will pass, and the wave has begun to decline.

“There is already hope for the end of the wave. Several days of a decrease in the incidence rate were not enough to understand the situation, especially since there were fluctuations in Moscow, but now it’s for sure. I think we crossed the peak. Now there will be a decline, “the doctor explained, noting that this year the fracture occurred almost a month earlier than last.

However, the virologist urged Russians not to relax, emphasizing that” the decline of one wave means that it's time to get ready for the next one ”and reminded of the importance of vaccination against coronavirus.

If we get a very high number of people who have met with coronavirus in one form or another, then only then will we receive some protection against the fifth wave of COVID-19 , – explained Chepurnov.

Earlier, the director of the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, Alexander Gintsburg, announced the need to increase the rate of vaccination against coronavirus by 4-5 times. According to the specialist, in this case, herd immunity in Russia will reach the required level in three months.
